Dolphins Trip 2026
Bayside Barracudas 13/14 Girls vs Redcliffe High School
7 August 2026 | Redcliffe High School Sports Fields
The Bayside Barracudas 13/14 Girls produced a courageous and highly impressive performance during their Dolphins Trip fixture against Redcliffe High School, narrowly going down 20-16 in a thrilling contest that was decided in the final minute.
Having enjoyed the opportunity to watch the Dolphins NRL captain in action at Kayo Stadium earlier in the day, the Barracudas girls arrived at Redcliffe High School full of excitement and eager to test themselves against strong opposition. It was the first of two matches for the afternoon, and the team wasted no time showing their determination and enthusiasm.
The Barracudas started the game brilliantly, combining disciplined defence with some outstanding attacking football. Their confidence with the ball and willingness to support one another created a number of scoring opportunities, while their defensive resolve prevented Redcliffe from gaining any momentum.
The girls’ efforts were rewarded with an outstanding first-half performance that saw them establish a 16-0 lead at halftime. It was a display that highlighted the team’s growing combinations, strong communication and commitment to playing for one another.
The second half, however, presented a different challenge. Redcliffe emerged with renewed energy and momentum, led by several powerful runners who continually tested the Barracudas’ defensive line. Through strong carries, offloads and second-phase play, the home side gradually fought their way back into the contest.
Despite Bayside’s best efforts and continued determination in defence, Redcliffe’s momentum proved difficult to contain. The match remained on a knife’s edge as the clock wound down, with both teams refusing to give an inch. In a heartbreaking finish for the Barracudas, Redcliffe crossed for the decisive try in the final minute to claim a narrow 20-16 victory.
While the result did not fall Bayside’s way, the performance showcased the team’s talent, resilience and potential. The girls demonstrated great teamwork throughout the contest and can be proud of the effort they displayed against quality opposition.
Standout Performers
Hailee Saunders
Hailee produced a Player of the Match performance, making a major impact on both sides of the ball. Her attacking creativity constantly kept the Redcliffe defence guessing, while her commitment in defence ensured she remained one of the Barracudas’ most influential players throughout the match.
Tia Nash
Tia was outstanding in the second row, combining strong defence with an excellent attacking contribution. She scored a well-earned try on the edge following a quality team movement and was rock-solid defensively, refusing to let opposing players find a way around her.
Louisiana Aalders
Louisiana set the standard through the middle of the field with a powerful running game. Time and again she carried the ball strongly into the defensive line, consistently winning the advantage and helping the Barracudas maintain forward momentum.
Sophie France
Playing at halfback, Sophie controlled the team’s attack with composure and maturity. Her game management and ability to organise plays helped keep the Barracudas moving forward, while her commitment to the team’s game plan was a key factor in their strong first-half performance.
Coach’s Comments
Coach Brett Carter praised the team’s attitude and teamwork, particularly given the limited time the group has spent playing together.
“The girls haven’t had much school footy together, but you wouldn’t know that from the enthusiasm and effort they displayed. I was really proud of how well they played as a team in both attack and defence. It was great to see them all enjoying their footy and embracing the experience against Redcliffe High.”
Although the result was disappointing, the match provided a valuable opportunity for the squad to continue developing their combinations and gain experience against strong opposition. Their performance reflected the positive culture and team-first attitude that continues to grow within the Barracudas program.
