Dolphins Trip 2026
Bayside Barracudas 13/14 Boys vs Redcliffe High School
7 August 2026 | Redcliffe High School Sports Fields
The Bayside Barracudas 13/14 Boys capped off an unforgettable Dolphins Trip with a hard-fought 22-14 victory over Redcliffe High School, producing a determined and disciplined performance against a larger and highly competitive opposition.
After enjoying the opportunity to watch the Dolphins NRL captain in action at Kayo Stadium, the Barracudas arrived at Redcliffe High School excited for the challenge ahead. Inspired and ready to test themselves against quality opposition, the boys delivered a performance full of resilience, teamwork and composure under pressure.
The match began at a frenetic pace, with both sides exchanging physical defence and sharp attacking football. Redcliffe opened the scoring early, but the Barracudas responded impressively, regrouping quickly to cross for the next try and regain momentum. From there, the contest developed into an entertaining try-for-try battle, with neither team able to gain a decisive advantage.
As the game entered its closing stages, the intensity lifted another level. With the Barracudas holding a narrow 18-14 lead and just two minutes remaining, Redcliffe had possession and appeared poised to launch one final attacking raid. Bayside’s defence, however, stood tall when it mattered most.
A crucial pressure tackle forced a handling error from Redcliffe, handing possession back to the Barracudas and providing one last opportunity to seal the result. The boys made the most of it in spectacular fashion. On the final play of the match, fullback Jahleal Barney chimed into the attack, bursting through the centre of the defensive line before racing 40 metres to score and put the finishing touches on an outstanding team victory.
While the late try brought the crowd to its feet, the result was built on a complete team effort. The Barracudas matched Redcliffe’s physicality throughout the contest and demonstrated great composure with the ball, particularly when the game was in the balance. Their defensive commitment in the second half ultimately proved the difference.

Alex McDonald
Alex produced a strong performance in the forward pack, leading from the front with tough carries and tireless work in defence. He scored two tries, including the match-sealing effort on the final play, and consistently provided a safe and dangerous presence at the back. His performance earned him Best Back on Ground, as awarded by Redcliffe High School.

Playing at lock, Zac delivered another reliable and hardworking display. He was strong with the ball in hand, regularly bending the defensive line, while his defensive efforts helped lay the foundation for the team’s success.
