The Bayside Barracudas Blue Year 9/10 Girls delivered a determined and exciting performance to secure a thrilling 24–20 victory over a strong Xavier Catholic College side in Round 5.
From the opening whistle, the match set the tone for a fast-paced contest, with both teams trading tries throughout the game. Xavier proved to be a formidable opponent, pushing the Barracudas at every opportunity, but Bayside matched the intensity with controlled attacking play and committed defence.
The Barracudas showed significant improvement in attack, moving the ball confidently and creating space across the field. Their willingness to back their skills resulted in several well-worked tries, keeping them in the contest during a seesawing encounter. Defensively, the girls showed great resilience, with strong cover defence helping to shut down multiple Xavier scoring chances.

Tilly Green was outstanding in the centres, scoring two tries through strong carries and showing excellent defensive commitment throughout the match.
Emma Bowerman provided a constant threat from dummy half, making sharp scoots that put Xavier on the back foot. Her smart ball movement and support play were rewarded with two tries.
Hailee Saunders impressed with her powerful running game and strong attacking shape, crossing for a try and backing it up with a solid defensive performance on the edge.
