Match Summary
Despite heading into the match with only 13 players, the Bayside Barracudas Opens boys showed tremendous resilience and determination against a strong Bundaberg High side.
From the outset, the Barracudas put their bodies on the line, matching their opponents with strong carries and committed defence. While Bundaberg High capitalised on opportunities to take a 22–6 lead into halftime, the Barracudas maintained a positive mindset and strong unity heading into the break.
The second half saw a marked defensive improvement, with the team applying more pressure and forcing Bundaberg High into errors. The Barracudas worked hard to hold their line, limiting the opposition to just a single try in the second half while continuing to compete strongly across the park. Their effort and spirit were evident throughout, particularly given the lack of interchange players.
Although the result didn’t go their way, the performance highlighted the team’s grit, teamwork, and willingness to play for each other.

Tyson Saunders
Delivered another strong performance at lock, contributing heavily in both attack and defence. Tyson’s tip-on passes created opportunities for his teammates, while his work rate remained high throughout the game.
Boyd Jagger
Showed great versatility, playing across multiple positions and excelling in each role. Boyd was consistent in all areas of his game, making him a valuable presence on the field.
Hugo Lucas
Outstanding effort in the halves, especially playing the full match without a bench. Hugo effectively eased the pressure on his forwards with smart runs and scoots, while also maintaining a high defensive standard.

“We knew it was going to be a tough game against Bundy High, but we focused on completing our sets, getting a good kick away, and defending strongly—and the boys did that well. To restrict them to just 6–0 in the second half shows how much these boys play for each other. I’m very proud of their effort on and off the field.”
