Match Summary

The Barracudas travelled to Wavell High for the second game of the Dolphins Trip in what proved to be an exciting contest. Both teams brough plenty of energy, with Wavell starting strong scoring two early tries before the Barracudas responded with a try of their own.

The match featured plenty of big hits and attacking flair from both sides. With around eight minutes remaining, the Barracudas held a narrow 16–14 lead. However, several calls went against the Barracudas, which Wavell capitalised on to secure the win.

Standout Performers

Brax Hudson

Brax had a solid defensive game, making plenty of strong carries and hard hit-ups. He gained valuable post-contact metres and helped the team move forward throughout the match.

Utah Blaikie
As always, Utah displayed some strong individual runs, making great metres while also contributing with solid defence against Wavell.

Jezra Tobane
Had a strong defensive game in the centres and made some valuable metres out wide. His running game kept Wavell guessing every time he touched the ball.

Hugo Lucas
Hugo had a very consistent game and was involved from start to finish. He contributed strongly in both attack and defence, continually putting his hand up when the team needed him.

Coach’s Comments

“The Barracuda boys knew it was going to be a tough game against Wavell High, but I think if we had another 10 minutes, we could have come away with the win. It was a great experience for the boys playing down in Brisbane. The game was definitely more fast paced and the contact was harder. The boys mentioned they really enjoyed the game and would love to play more games down in Brisbane. We’re grateful to Wavell High for the game and the experience.”
