That’s why we are so proud when we see clear examples of the Bayside Christian College values of compassion, humility, resourcefulness, integrity, service and tenacity displayed on the sidelines, and on the field.

For a powerful display of humility, look no further than Emileigh Vanner, who made the tough game-day decision to step aside when squad size restrictions meant not all players could take the field during the Karyn Murphy Cup.

Emileigh put her team’s needs before her own when difficult selection decisions had to be made between three players for the final team sheet.

Barracudas Director, Michael Bennett, commended Emileigh on her maturity, selflessness and team-first attitude.

“Emileigh graciously stood aside on the day, demonstrating outstanding character, respect for her teammates, and a genuine commitment to the values of the Barracudas program,” Mr Bennett said.

“Her positive attitude and support of the team did not go unnoticed and reflected the type of culture and sportsmanship we continue to encourage within our program.”

Mr Bennett acknowledged all the girls who were unable to take the field throughout the day for various reasons, including injury and time limitations.

“Your support, encouragement, and commitment to the team environment were greatly appreciated and played an important role in the overall spirit and culture of the Barracudas program,” he said.

He also acknowledged the support of Mrs Taylor and Mrs Vanner, who assisted and supervised teams.

“Without such help, these events would not be possible,” Mr Bennett said.
